The High Potential Individual (HPI) visa is designed for individuals who have demonstrated high potential in their early career stages and have graduated from top global universities outside the UK within the last 5 years. This visa route aims to attract and retain exceptional talent in the UK, contributing to its economy and academic standing. It does not require a job offer or sponsorship from a UK employer, offering flexibility for holders to seek employment, engage in business activities, or further their studies in the UK.
Applicants must have graduated from a university that is listed in the UK Home Office's approved list of top global universities. The qualification must have been obtained within the last 5 years prior to the application date. This ensures the applicant's education is recent and relevant.
The qualification obtained must be equivalent to a UK bachelor's degree, master's degree, or PhD. This equivalence is determined by UK NARIC, which assesses international qualifications.
Applicants must not have previously held permission under the Student Doctorate Extension Scheme, Graduate route, or as a High Potential Individual. This ensures the visa is used by new applicants.
Applicants must provide official documentation proving their graduation from a recognized university. This includes degree certificates and transcripts.
A valid passport is required to apply for the HPI visa. It must be current and have at least one blank page for the visa.
Applicants must pay the application fee, which starts from ÂŖ715. This fee is non-refundable and must be paid at the time of application submission.
While there is no specific minimum salary requirement, applicants must demonstrate they have enough funds to support themselves without recourse to public funds.
Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency at level B1 or higher. This can be proven through an approved English language test or by having a degree taught in English.
Applicants from certain countries must provide a valid tuberculosis test certificate if they are coming to the UK for more than 6 months.
Applicants must not have any criminal convictions or immigration refusals. A criminal record check may be required to demonstrate good character.
Applicants must provide biometric information, including fingerprints and a photograph, as part of the application process. This is typically done at a visa application center.
